Case Study Project Development Support Situation: A client with significant resource holdings was looking to develop the project and obtain regulatory approval to construct a mine. The project is green-fields, minimal resource information is available and mine planning has not been conducted to date. Solution: Norwest was engaged to begin resource delineation drilling. For the following 3 years, Norwest plans and manages the exploration, geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling programs along with data management and geological model construction. Upon receipt of the model from the first year of drilling, Norwest’s mine planning group begins preliminary life of mine development options and engineering design. Subsequent drilling programs provide additional data, which allows engineering design and cost estimating to proceed to a prefeasibility level in support of the regulatory application. Result: Norwest’s ability to supply integrated field support, geological, geotechnical, hydrological, data management and engineering design services improves execution efficiency and reduces project costs.
